HOLY BALLS, SOMEONE MADE A REAL-LIFE ‘ARKHAM CITY’ BATMAN COSTUME

The Batman video games Arkham Asylum and Arkham City are enormously popular, and part of the reason the games are so well-loved by millions of geeks is the superb job the programmers did immersing the player in the role of Batman. The games allow you to be Batman; you can do anything Batman can do, like annihilate a dozen armed thugs at once, or use any gadget Batman uses, like batarangs or grappling lines. The design of the games is also incredible, with stunning graphics and new looks for familiar characters like Harley Quinn, The Scarecrow, The Joker and others.

Not all Bat-fans are crazy about some of these makeovers (The “slutty” Harley Quinn re-design, in particular, is very controversial in the Bat-community), but most are in agreement that the costume Batman himself sports in the game is excellent. It combines the “real-world” aesthetic of the Christopher Nolan Batman films with the classic comic-book appearance of the Dark Knight. It’s a practical suit that looks like it’s constructed out of flexible kevlar or other reality-based materials, while still giving off the menacing, supernatural aura that strikes fear into the hearts of criminals. The suit is so cool in fact, that an independent designer and special effects artist by the name  Batpirisss decided to enlist some friends and actually create a wearable replica. The results, as you can see from these photos, is nothing short of astonishing.

THE BROTHERS MARIO KICK SOME GOOMBA ASS

I stumbled upon this video on Facebook and I thought I’d share it because it. is. AWESOME!! Its a machinima created by a duo who call themselves The Country Club. The Club — aka Nathan Kitada and Aaron T. Umedani) have a channel on YouTube filled with their pretty cool short films, including a parody of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and a three minute long fight scene they call “The Initiation”, both worth checking out. With “The Brothers Mario”, Kitada and Umedani have essentially made a four-minute long CGI “trailer” for a sadly non-existent Scarface-style gangster movie that recasts Mario, Luigi, Peach, et al as underworld mafioso types battling it out on the mean streets of some major city. Love Toad as a do-ragged, rocket-launcher toting hip-hop thug.)

GIFT THE GIFT THAT KEEPS ON WOWING

I just hit Worldofwarcraft.com on my way to check out the forums and was completely blown away by the deal they’re having right now.

Check out this insanity! For $20 you can own the original vanilla WoW as well as the next two expansions. That’s three games, with thousands of hours worth of playtime, for the price of the first game!

There has never been a better time to start playing World of Warcraft, or to return to the game.  Azeroth just went up in flames last week with a major patch, giving us a ton of new stuff to play with, new and previously blocked off zones opened up to explore, a completely new 1-60 quest leveling experience, changes to race / class combinations and tons more.

Keep in mind you’ll still have to pay normal ($39.99) price for the expansion that’s coming out December 7th, but if you were curious about WoW, now’s the time to buy the old content you’ll need to play Cataclysm. This would also make a great gift for the holidays for someone you know who’s curious. Don’t forget, WoW also has a $15 monthly fee to play, so if you’re giving this as a gift, you might want to also consider a game card as part of your package.

Give the gift of WoW, or treat yourself! Come see Azeroth burn and help us fight Deathwing!
