Well, this is kinda crazy. It seems that Ridley Scott and Damon Lindlehoff have turned John Spaihts draft of the planned prequel to Alien into a completely original project called Prometheus. Here’s what Ridley said about the re-worked concept:
Ok, I’ve gotten way behind on my news updates here at the ‘Cola. In an incredibly half-assed attempt to get caught up, here are a shit-ton of links to everything that has been going on since Friday, sans any snarky commentary. This update is brought to you by the amazingly hot chicks from Sucker Punch, in theaters March 25!
Man, another slow news day. If this keeps up, I’m going to have to make some crazy shit up to draw some attention to this site and break up the monotony of this week’s “news”. Maybe I’ll start a rumor that George Lucas has turned the Star Wars franchise over to Michael Bay for a complete reboot, with Megan Fox as Princess Leia and Channing Tatum as Luke Skywalker. Good Lord, I just terrified myself with that…*ahem* At any rate, today’s big, Earth-shattering news story is a new photo of Tomar Re, a bird-like alien who is one of the star members of the Green Lantern Corps in the upcoming Green Lantern film starring Ryan Reynolds. Thrilling.
I don’t know how I missed posting this trailer for the Steven Spielberg-produced alien invasion TV series Falling Skies yesterday, but here it is in all it’s ID4-meets-The Walking Dead glory. The pilot is set to air on TNT in June, 2011. It looks decent enough, but the aliens themselves need a lot more rendering before the final product airs, and I’m just not so sure I buy Noah Wylie as the badass leader of a group of survivors. Was Matthew Fox not available? Witness the fury of JACKFACE, alien scum!!!
Here we have the teaser trailer for Cowboys & Aliens (formerly Cowboys vs. Aliens), the latest film from Iron Man 1&2 director Jon Favreau. When I first heard about this project, my knee-jerk reaction was to say that I’d rather shove a white-hot trident into my face than have anything to do with it, but It actually looks pretty decent. However, in a Summer where you already have Captain America, Thor, The last Harry Potter film, Cars 2, Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides, Green Lantern, and Transformers: Dark of the Moon, it’s bound to get overlooked. What do you think?
