ANNA FARIS & BILL HADER MIGHT BE GHOSTBUSTERS

Dan Aykroyd stopped being funny about 20 years ago, right around the time he made My Stepmom is an Alien. He’s also fairly delusional and keeps talking about Ghostbusters 3 like it’s actually going to happen. A few days ago he did a radio interview on WGN Chicago and confirmed rumors that Saturday Night Live star Bill Hader and longtime comedic actress Anna Faris are being considered to play two of the new Ghostbusters in the long in development sequel.

Will Forte, star of Macgruber and Hader’s cast-mate on SNL was also rumored to be up for a role, but Aykroyd shot that down. He did, however, continue to float the name of Eliza Dushku out there as a potential candidate to strap on a proton pack, which completely blows my mind because her acting skills are laughable, and she would just be completely out of her element in a Ghostbusters movie.

Aykryod’s comments and all of these casting details have led me to believe that in the script, written by Office staff writers Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg, there’s a tough-as-nails, badass chick (Dushku) that is constantly getting annoyed by the wacky recruits (Hader and ???), and maybe a ditzy new secretary (Faris).  This dynamic could work well if they get someone other than Dushku to play the hard-ass,  and I know people are sick to death of him, but I think Seth Rogen would make a great countperpart to Hader as a loveable schlub-type Ghostbuster. What do you guys think? Who do you want to see as Ghostbusters?

About Jeff Carter

Jeff began his path towards Geek destiny at the age of four, at a drive-in screening of Star Wars. Since then, he's had a love affair with all things nerdy. In the mid to late 90's, Jeff was a staff writer for EchoStation.Com, interviewing Star Wars heavyweights like Timothy Zahn and Drew Struzan. He then went on to review films and write editorial pieces for several blogs in the mid 2000's, wrote and co-created a webcomic strip that ran from 2007-2010, and is currently co-founder of Dead Henchmen Productions, an independent film company based in New England.

  1. John of the Dead

I think Hader is awesome, and he and Seth Rogen worked well together in “Superbad”, so that would be an awesome pairing. I love me some Eliza Dushku, she’s sexy as hell, so I’m down with her (she can be the eye candy.) I’d round out the cast with Paul Rudd and Romany Malco (the black guy from “40 Year Old Virigin”.

  2. I just don’t want this to suck.
